About Sam

That's me, Sam Weinman. You probably knew that because it would be weird for the homepage of SamWeinman.com to have a picture of, say, Kate Upton (I tried—she was unavailable).

Anyway, my book, WIN AT LOSING, took root with my son Charlie and his younger brother, Will, and the fact that they both struggled with losing. Wanting to show them both that losing has real benefits, I started on a journey that saw me talks to all sorts of people—famous and otherwise—about how they handled a notable loss, and what they learned from it. The book was published in December 2016. I think you'll like it. It's the best book I've ever written.*

(*It's the only book I've written.)

As for what else you need to know about me, I'm the digital editorial director at Golf Digest, where I've been since 2009. Prior to that I covered golf and the NHL for The Journal News in Westchester, N.Y., and wrote for publications that included Golf Digest, USA Today, Golf World, Yahoo! Sports, ESPN the Magazine, and Sports Illustrated. I've been honored with multiple first place awards in the Associated Press Sports Editors and Golf Writers Association of America writing contests.

I live in Rye, NY, with my wife and two boys, and spend too much of my free time coaching youth sports.

Check out my Golf Digest stories.

My day job is as an editor at Golf Digest. That's me (front right, green shirt) shadowing Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship.
